We want everyone to be able to use NEMZIO: owners following their property from abroad, and the people who do visits on site. We aim for the website, the web app and the phone app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
The website
The website works with your browser's zoom and text size, a keyboard alone, and screen readers. The first Tab on a page offers “Skip to content”, whatever has keyboard focus is outlined, form problems are read out and point to the box that needs fixing, and the site's own videos have controls and captions. It follows your device's setting to reduce motion. It has no display mode of its own: your browser's and device's settings decide how large the text is and how much moves.
Accessibility mode in the phone app
The NEMZIO phone app has an accessibility mode: larger, bolder text, stronger colours, bigger buttons with more space between them, and less movement. Turn it on or off with the small accessibility button at the top of the sign-in screen, or in the Account tab (More, in the newer layout). When you're signed in it's saved on your account, so it's on when you sign in on another phone. It doesn't change the website.
What we know isn't there yet
- The property map. The interactive map (Google Maps) is hard to use with a keyboard or a screen reader. You can set a property's location by typing its coordinates, or from a survey plan, instead.
- Photos and videos from visits. They are evidence as captured, so they don't come with text descriptions or captions. Each one is labelled with what it shows, when and where it was taken, and videos play with your browser's own controls. On paid plans, automated descriptions of photos are shown as text, labelled as automated.
- Land-check documents. Reports and documents are delivered exactly as the offices returned them, often as scanned pages, which screen readers may not be able to read.
- Doing a visit. A visit needs a phone camera and someone able to move around the property. The app offers “I can't safely reach this” for any spot that can't be reached.
Tell us about a problem
If something on NEMZIO is hard to use for you, or you need information in another format, email support@nemzion.com with the page or screen and what happened. We'll help you get what you need another way while we fix it.
